The BARF Model Breakdown

The BARF model mirrors the nutritional profile of whole prey. Raw Food (BARF) Calculator — FAQ

The standard BARF (Biologically Appropriate Raw Food) ratio is: 70% muscle meat, 10% raw meaty bone, 5% liver, 5% other secreting organ (kidney/spleen), 7% vegetables and fruit, 3% seeds and supplements. This mirrors the nutrient profile of whole prey.
Adult maintenance: 2–2.5% of body weight per day. A 20 kg dog needs 400–500g raw food daily. Puppies need 4% of body weight. Active or working dogs need up to 3%. Our calculator adjusts automatically for life stage and weight goal.
Raw feeding is not recommended for immunocompromised dogs, puppies under 8 weeks, or dogs in households with immunocompromised humans. Always use human-grade meat, freeze for 2+ weeks before use, and follow strict hygiene protocols.
